De Pelgrimstocht / The Pilgrimage

De Pelgrimstocht is een schilderij gemaakt met olieverf op paneel. En 100x84 cm.

Het vreemde perspectief en de fantasierijke figuren, maakt dit schilderij magisch en avontuurlijk.
De pelgrimstocht die ze maken kent veel obstakels.
Bij deze bizarre tocht ontmoeten de Pelgrims demonische wezens die ze op het verkeerde pad proberen te lokken.
Het hoofdfiguur draagt twee vogels in zijn handen. Alsof hij wikt en weegt welke kant hij op moet.

De inspiratie komt van mijn bezoek aan orthodoxe kloosters in voormalig Joegoslavië. Waar je veel muurschilderingen zag van goed en kwaad.

Het schilderij is zoals een levensweg. Blijf je op de goede weg of verandert je pad dan wat je eigenlijk had uitgestippeld.
Kies je de verkeerde weg. Maar wat is verkeerd?
En zo zijn er verschillende wegen die op kunt gaan.

Het schilderij is natuurlijk ook te bewonderen in mijn prachtige atelier in Veenendaal. U kunt daar op afspraak altijd langskomen. Om deze en ook nog meer van mijn schilderijen te bewonderen.

The journey that pilgrims undertake is full of obstacles.
On this bizarre journey, the pilgrims encounter demonic creatures who try to lure them onto the wrong path.
The main figure holds two birds in his hands, as if weighing which direction to go.

The inspiration comes from my visit to Orthodox monasteries in the former Yugoslavia, where you could see many murals depicting good and evil.

The painting is like a path through life. Do you stay on the right path, or does your path change from what you had originally planned?
Do you choose the wrong way? But what is wrong?
And there are many different paths you can take.
